Festspelen – the music festival with young adults and learning i focus

Festspelen in Piteå started back in 1982 and has been attracting audiences with a high-quality and original programme of concerts around midsummer for over four decades.  The beauty of nature, the bright summer nights and the city’s well-adapted premises and natural performance venues contribute to the overall experience.

As an integral part of the fesitival, advanced international masterclasses are offered in co-operation with Framnäs Folkhögskola.  The courses attract young music students from all over the world and the course participants and teachers make up a large part of the festival’s concert programme.

Thanks to the support of Signatur Foundation Sweden, Festspelen is able to organise three masterclasses this year: a brass course with Stockholm Chamber Brass, a clarinet course with Martin Fröst and Hermann Stefansson, and a vocal course with Miah Persson and Magnus Svensson.

Lessons from role models

”One of the cornerstones of Festspelen in Piteå is the masterclasses that attract participants from all over the world.  It is extremely satisfying to be able to offer young musicians both lessons from their role models and equal space on the stages of the festival”

Roger Norén and Annacarin Johansson, artistic directors
